Duong is a 12 year old girl with autism and mental retardation who began at the Center earlier this year. Her enrollment at An Hoa means that Duong no longer has to stay at her home alone without care during the daytime hours. Both of her parents are unskilled laborers and take a variety of temporary jobs in order to support their family. Duong is a very active and sometimes tries to run outside. The teachers are working very hard to teach her basic life skills and how to behave appropriately in a group setting.
