There are almost 2 million orphaned
or abandoned children living in institutions in China, Russia,
Colombia, Vietnam, Taiwan, Africa, and Haiti who may never
find a family due to lack of opportunity, their age, or a
special need. Many of these children do not receive the proper
nutrition, medical attention, education, or individual care
that would allow them to grow, thrive, acquire skills and
become contributing members of their communities.
Going forward, we expect that China will continue to absorb a significant portion of our funds, along with Russia and Colombia. However, we expect increased need in Haiti, Vietnam, Taiwan and Africa due to the increasing number of orphaned and abandoned children in these countries.
Expanding Our Efforts
The Foundation plans to expand our efforts in Haiti and Vietnam
and establish programs in Africa and Taiwan.
The most efficient means for us to provide a comprehensive range of services is through family style living programs, similar to those we have established in China. These programs will strive to provide children, who would otherwise be living in an institution, an opportunity for a loving family and a brighter future.
