The Foundation established the An Hoa Center, a day program and school for children with mental disabilities in Huế, Vietnam. Coordinated by three local teachers, the 20 children enrolled in the daycare program receive physical and emotional therapy, nutritious meals, an education, and skill training designed to help them become self-sufficient, contributing members of society.
In addition to helping the children, the program serves as respite to families who must work during the day to survive and supports families in remaining together. Vietnam lacks an infrastructure to address developmental disabilities and special needs. This initiative serves to empower these children's voices through a strong education and cultural activities that include members of the broader community.
