The
Alliance for Children Foundation is an international relief organization
dedicated to improving the physical and emotional well being of abandoned
children living in orphanages in Asia, Eastern Europe and Latin America.
The Foundation's projects in medical care, basic needs, and education
seek to heal, strengthen and empower the world's most vulnerable children,
especially those who are less likely to be adopted due to age or special
needs. Our programs provide these children with an otherwise impossible
opportunity for a better future.

August 27, 2009 - Urgent
donations needed for Taiwan!
Typhoon Morakot dropped some 80 inches of rain on Taiwan this weekend,
causing the worst flooding in five decades. Rivers have burst their banks,
washing away buildings, roads and bridges, cutting power lines and flooding
city streets as well as farmland. Losses to the farming industry are estimated
at $152m. The orphanage we work with is in need of basic needs such as
rice, cooking oil, masks, rain boots, etc.
Please send your donation payable to the Alliance For Children
Foundation, 464 Hillside Avenue Suite
300, Needham MA 02494 and mark your envelope: Taiwan Typhoon Relief.
Thank you!

Xiao Fu
Alliance is very sad to note that Chinese orphan Xiao Fu, who has been
profiled
on our web site (after meeting President Bush and Secretary Rice), passed
away on July 7th, 2008, after suffering from a long illness. Xiao Fu was
an inspirational individual and touched many lives around the world. Please
visit our Make
a Donation page if you wish to make a donation in his memory;
all gifts will be used to help the orphans at his Hefei orphanage in China
and to support the group he founded, Rights into Action for Disabled
Youth, in Hefei.

China. We are thrilled to announce that Ciccolo
Sunbeam Village officially opened on April 13th, 2008, with 24 children

Dec.
1, 2007 - Wuzhou P & G Sunbeam Village Opened!
On December 1st, 2007, a new foster care "village"
opened in Wuzhou, China. This project provides apartments for Chinese
foster parents to live with groups of 5 orphans (most of whom have special
needs) as stable families. It is modeled after the very successful Sunbeam
Village project in Hefei that has been supported by the AFC Foundation
for 5+ years, and was made possible by a generous $50,000 donation from
Procter & Gamble’s Live,
Learn and Thrive Global Cause. Visit our Wuzhou
P & G Sunbeam Village project page to see photos
of the new families and to read the first inspiring report on how
these orphans, previously institutionalized,
are now thriving in their new family setting.
